What Does ESP Show Through Terrain in War Thunder?

What Does ESP Show Through Terrain in War Thunder?

ESP in War Thunder doesn't work like an ordinary wallhack in a shooter: the game's maps stretch across real kilometers, and cover comes from terrain, urban buildings on ground maps, and clouds in the air. A regular player relies only on render distance and the sound of an engine or a shot, while ESP removes that advantage completely: vehicles become visible through any terrain at any distance.

We analyzed current builds on the client with dual BattlEye and Viking protection (the current pairing since December 2024, which replaced the old EAC) and put together below exactly what ESP shows across the three combat theaters: aviation, ground, and navy. Working options with prices and status are collected on the War Thunder cheats page, and the list there gets updated after every major patch.

What ESP actually shows on War Thunder's large maps

On maps like Norway or Sicily, ground combat range easily reaches one and a half to two kilometers, and the render simply won't show a tank behind a hill or in a low spot: the game doesn't spend resources on it unless the target is in direct line of sight or within an ally's spotting radius. ESP works on top of that limitation. The client still receives object coordinates from the server, and the ESP module reads them from memory and draws them over the image, no matter what stands between you and the target.

Terrain, buildings, and clouds are no longer cover

On urban maps like Berlin, Stalingrad, or the Gulf of Finland with its port buildings, a regular player targets a silhouette around the corner of a building or waits for the enemy to stick out a gun barrel. With ESP, position reads through a building wall just as clearly as in an open field. In aviation it's a similar story with clouds: a fighter hides in cumulus cover to approach a target unnoticed, and ESP draws the aircraft's outline right through the cloud regardless of how dense the cover is. In naval battles, cover works through distance: a ship on the horizon that visually blends into the sea line still stays marked with a distance readout to the target.

Module ESP: something other games don't have

War Thunder uses a detailed damage model: hitting different modules on the same tank gives a different result. A penetrated ammo rack almost always means an instant explosion, a hit to the engine or transmission immobilizes the vehicle, and a destroyed breech or barrel takes away the ability to fire, even if the crew is still alive. Ordinary ESP draws only a silhouette or a box around the vehicle: that's enough to know where the enemy is, but not enough to immediately understand where to shoot for a guaranteed result.

In our catalog this task is covered by MASON INTERNAL (status undetected, from 500 rubles): ESP marks the ammo rack, commander, gunner, loader, engine, transmission, breech, and barrel separately in different colors, with precise hitboxes for each module. In testing, this turns a shot from 800 meters from "somewhere into the silhouette" into an aimed hit on a specific module. The difference is especially noticeable on heavy vehicles like the IS-3 or Tiger II, where the frontal projection visually covers most of the hull: without ESP a player aims at the middle of the silhouette at random, while with module marking it's clear the ammo rack and transmission are offset to the side and need a different aim point. We covered this ESP marking in detail, along with how it actually looks in combat, separately in the MASON INTERNAL review.

Three combat theaters, three different ESP priorities

Aviation, ground, and navy in War Thunder each require a different set of ESP functions, and cheat developers account for that. For the air, what matters more isn't the exact point on the map but the aircraft type at long range: FECURITY keeps a "plane to plane" mode built for dogfighting, with a sight for armor penetration and adjustable zoom from 0 to 50, so you can identify a silhouette before it becomes visually clear whether it's a fighter or a bomber. For ground battles, modules and cover matter more, as described above. For navy, what matters most is distance to the target on the water, where visual contact often gets lost to fog or glare on the surface. One more thing that's easy to miss: missiles and guided bombs on modern vehicles move faster than a player can react to the launch sound, so separate ESP for ordnance, not just for the vehicle itself, has stopped being a nice extra and become something people expect.

Target visibility and smart boxes: how ESP marking adapts to terrain

There's a separate problem with large maps: the render engine itself decides whether to draw the full vehicle model or a simplified silhouette, depending on FPS load and distance. Some cheats in our catalog build ESP boxes not as a fixed rectangle around the whole model, but as a "smart" outline along the vehicle's visible faces, so the frame doesn't cover the target itself and doesn't look like a drawing over empty space when part of the hull is hidden by terrain. WARCHILL (undetected, from 5 dollars) does exactly this through its smart 3D boxes, and a separate visibility check feature changes the frame color depending on whether the enemy currently sees you or not. It shows what's visible to you, and it works both ways: it also shows whether the enemy can see you.

What to choose for War Thunder for this task

The recommendation depends on which theater you play more, and whether you need aim or it's enough to just see through the map. Some players get a combo of two cheats at once: one for ESP on a regular basis, and another just for a specific event, like a tournament or an event with new vehicles, where aim matters more. Below is the current data from our catalog.

CheatPrice fromStatusWhat ESP gives
MASON INTERNAL500 rublesundetectedModule ESP for vehicles, precise hitboxes for each part
ARCANE LITE4 dollarsundetectedBox, fill, lines, name, distance, and vehicle name, no aim
ARCANE PRO5 dollarsundetectedSame ESP set plus aim
WARCHILL5 dollarsundetectedSmart 3D boxes along visible faces only, plus visibility check
MEMEZ300 rublesundetectedPlayer and vehicle ESP, separate ESP for missiles and bombs
FECURITY6 dollarsgoodProjectile ESP, penetration sight, "plane to plane" mode
  • Just starting out with ESP and not ready to pay for aim: ARCANE LITE covers the basic task, box and distance, without the risk of overloading the client with extra features.
  • Need module accuracy at medium and long range: MASON INTERNAL, with ammo rack, engine, transmission, and barrel marked in separate colors.
  • Often play from covered positions and want to know who actually sees you: WARCHILL, its visibility check changes the target color based on actual visibility. The aimbot doesn't currently work there, so get this cheat specifically for ESP, not for aim.
  • Spend more time in aviation: FECURITY, with aircraft type recognition at range and zoom up to 50.
  • Play a mixed style and value ESP for missiles and bombs on ground and navy: MEMEZ, a separate breakdown of its features is in the MEMEZ review.

The full and current list is available on the War Thunder cheats → page: it also shows the undetected status for each option and prices without our internal formatting, for easy comparison. All private hacks are distributed through ForgeCheats' own loader, which downloads in your personal account right after payment, no need to install any third-party software separately. The catalog gets updated within a day after War Thunder patches, if BattlEye or Viking changes detection.

Frequently asked questions about War Thunder cheats

Can you see a tank behind a hill through ESP in War Thunder?

Yes, ESP doesn't depend on render distance or terrain: the client gets vehicle coordinates from the server regardless of direct line of sight, and the ESP module just draws that position over the image. This works the same whether on an open plain or behind a hill or in a low spot, where the game itself genuinely draws nothing on screen. In our catalog, MASON INTERNAL and ARCANE LITE cover this, both currently in undetected status.

Does module ESP work in actual combat, not just in screenshots?

Yes, we tested this on the current patch: MASON INTERNAL's marking of the ammo rack, engine, and transmission stays accurate as the vehicle turns and distance changes, and the hitboxes for each module don't drift. Details with examples are in the MASON INTERNAL review on our blog.

Can you get ESP without aim if you just need map awareness?

Yes, ARCANE LITE in our catalog is built exactly that way: box, fill, name, distance, and vehicle type without a single aim function, which lowers the very chance of getting flagged for inhumanly accurate shooting.

Does aviation ESP differ from ground ESP in War Thunder?

Yes, the priorities are different: in the air it matters more to identify the aircraft type at range and not lose it in the clouds, on the ground you need to see the vehicle's vulnerable module. FECURITY is built for the first, MASON INTERNAL for the second, and in the War Thunder cheats catalog both options are currently in undetected status.

Does ESP help in naval battles if a ship blends into the horizon?

Yes, for navy in War Thunder visual contact often gets lost due to fog, glare, or simply the distance to the target on the water, while ESP keeps the marker and distance to the ship regardless of lighting and weather. In our catalog, MEMEZ covers this task along with raid targets on land, status currently undetected.

Is it safe to use ESP with dual BattlEye and Viking protection?

No cheat seller can give an absolute guarantee, but the undetected status of all the cheats listed here means that, at the time of publishing, they aren't flagged by the current BattlEye and Viking pairing. We track detection after every patch and update the status in the catalog, instead of leaving it unchanged for months. If the status changes to Updating, the cheat's catalog card gets flagged immediately, and we don't recommend running it until confirmation from the developer.
